SubDrum Industries (Melbourne, FL) introduced its groundbreaking speaker technology, the SubDrum® line, at the NAMM Show in Anaheim in 2023.

Turning Drums into Speakers:

SubDrum® offers a unique range of subwoofers, speakers, and sound systems crafted from real acoustic drums. Their flagship product, the Coffee Table Subwoofer, transforms new or vintage kick drums into powerful subwoofers.

Here's the magic:

Float-in-Head™ Design (patent pending): A powerful 18-inch driver is installed within a reinforced opening in the drum's resonant head. This innovative design isolates the speaker frame from the drum shell, virtually eliminating unwanted vibrations and distortion.

360° Bass Experience: Bass frequencies are evenly distributed throughout the room thanks to the speaker's up-firing driver and down-firing back wave.

Vibration-Free Sound: Rubber risers isolate the drum from the floor and tempered glass top, preventing any rattling or movement, even at high volumes. This unique design allows the SubDrum® to function as a stunning coffee table without compromising sound quality.

Beyond the Coffee Table:

SubDrum® expands its drum-to-speaker concept with SpeakerToms™. These full-range speakers utilize 8-inch SubDrum® KOAX™ drivers (available in various configurations) housed within matching tom drums.

The Total Package:

The SubDrum® Coffee Table Subwoofer and SpeakerToms™ create a visually striking and versatile audio system.Perfect for home theaters, music rooms, or even commercial venues, SubDrum® offers a novel and stylish way to experience your favorite music.

SubDrum®

SubDrum's advanced speaker design is the result of a culmination of steps taken to design a speaker cabinet based on acoustic drum technology.  By its very design, a drum's main purpose is to accurately reproduce sounds when the head is struck.  We took full  advantage of that notion in the design and development of our ultimate invention: SubDrum®

We even employ both drum heads; one as an "active resonator" and the other as an "active baffle" onto which the speaker driver is mounted.  We refer to this as our "float-in-head" mounting system, which acts to isolate unwanted speaker frame vibrations from being transferred to the drum shell cabinet.  Doing so virtually eliminates cabinet resonance distortion, and you get the pure tonal quality of the instruments being reproduced.
